The coil end detection system (CDES) reported in the literature are either sensor or sensor less. Sensor based coil detection system has low reliability and high latency time for operation. Whereas in sensor less coil detection system the accuracy using which coils can be detected is low and also loss in the system will be high as the system has to run continuously.
Requirements of the coil detection system for Dynamic wireless charging application can be summarized as:
- 1. Coil detection on primary side to detect and instaneously turn on primary coil in DWPT application
- 2. High reliability of the system
- 3. No communications should be required for sensing
- 4. Able to detect an EV, if the EV is coming from a side lane to the charging lane
- 5. Low power to reduce standby losses
Coil usually refers to the winding of wire in a ring. The most common coil applications are motor, inductor, transformer and ring antenna. The coil in a circuit is an inductor. It also refers to the winding of conductors one by one, and the conductors are insulated from each other, and the insulated pipe can be hollow, which contains iron core or magnetic powder core. The inductance can be divided into fixed inductance and variable inductance.
